Support Staff

Meet Our Support Staff

In any successful law firm, a lot of credit must be given to the support staff. Without them as part of our team, we would never have been able to accomplish what we have for our clients. When you call the office, you might be greeted by any one of the following individuals.

Arlene Sogluizzo

arlene sogluizzo

Arlene is involved with major discovery and document exchange in the disclosure part of litigation. She will often negotiate with opposing paralegals to “streamline” record exchanges, thus avoiding court intervention, which helps to speed up the case. She will also serve as our office liaison between outside attorney services and court personnel.

James C.B. Gray

 james gray sm

James is a field investigator who will meet with clients and witnesses on a case.  When necessary he will visit an accident scene to take photographs and/or measurements as the case may require.  James is also a community, social and civil rights activist who participates in our outreach and community pro bono programs that raise awareness concerning legal issues, civil rights violations, and victims’ rights.

Judy Schmelkin

judy schmelkin

Judy is a medical record registered administrator. She will analyze a client’s medical chart and determine whether the records are complete when obtained from the facilities. She will assist in handling administrative functions such as bookkeeping, office expenditures, advertising and promoting the office in community functions.

Lena Como

lena como

As part of her general paralegal skills and duties, Lena is responsible for the drafting of legal pleadings, documents and the complying with the disclosure of records/discovery. She spends a great deal of time obtaining records, reports, and memoranda which servesas the “building blocks” of our client's cases. She will often devote much time to Internet and computer research tracking down the hard-to-find “gems” which enable us to process our cases.

Martha Carrasquillo

martha carrasquillo

Before retaining a client, Martha is responsible for our initial client contact and scheduling. She often acts as an “office liaison” between clients and our of counsel attorneys, as well as our out of state colleagues, when the matter cannot be directly handled by our office. In addition to general office duties, she is fluent in Spanish and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Nancy Naples

nancy naples

Nancy is involved with heavy client contact in the management of their day-to-day affairs concerning the processing of their cases. In addition to paralegal functions, she often performs Administrative duties between office and vendors, to ensure the smooth “business functions” of the firm. She will spend a great deal of time assisting in the finalization of the client’s settlement concerning the negotiations of the outstanding liens and assignments to complete a case.
